As you can all probably see i am on a little bit of a roll regarding getting things going on the BotC front (both Doubles and Singles) and after re-reading some feedback remembered that we were lacking in a FAQ document last year.

I think this is even more prudent now that the GT ones have gone (but may return in the future in some other non official form...).

So if anyone has any burning questions regarding 40k rules post them here and I/we/you can strive to get the best answer.

VEHICLE HULLS

This refers to strength bonus's incurred by the use of grenades only. Models with Aura of Acquiescence still get the Unholy Might and/or Furious Charge bonus's versus a vehicle in close combat.

Drop Pod doors do not count as the body/hull of the vehicle for the purposes of disembarking, range measurement and/or the 1" rule restricting movement. Treat them as open terrain in all situations

Yes they will. Even though the model is not in base to base contact, under the rules it may still be damaged as it is part of a Squadron and therefore counts as been attacked and so would follow the rules for Flechette Dischargers as found in the Tau Codex.

IMO this touches upon a key point of the rules creep (as does the question of DH assault cannons).

I am inclined to go out on a (imo sensible) limb here and say that were possible the Black Templar, Dark Angel, Witch Hunter and Daemonhunter books should all use the rules found in the current Space Marine codex for:

Assault Cannons
Power of the Machine Spirit
Assault Ramps
Cyclone Missile Launchers
Storm Shields
Psychic Hoods
and they should also use the Rule Book rules for Force Weapons.

IMO this is simple and as it should be. Non of this discrepancy between codex's on common wargear.

I would say that before deployment Shrike may choose to lead any unit from his army, subject to the normal rules on joining units, and subsequently that unit may Infiltrate as per Shrikes special rules.

Personally as this is our tourney we can be quite subjective with the FAQ provided it is released alongside the rules packs and updated correctly so i don't see why we can't do things a bit more sensibly than GW is doing right now.

No. Sorry i have always seen ramming as different to tank shocking hence it has its own small section. It does not at any point say the vehicle is tank shocked and this is what happens and as Deffrollas cause D6 S10 hits against units that are Tank Shocked they do not effect vehicles that are rammed.

This is one of the few times I would go RAW as otherwise Deffrollas and the conversely Battlewagons just become far too good for their points (lets face it Orks don't need any more help )

does going flat out as a scout move give your valks or dettas a cover save turn one

Yes. Bikes that turbo boost when they scout get a cover save on turn one so IMO the same goes for skimmers that are able to scout.

I would say nay to using common rules for all of the Wargear that has morphed over time.

In the case of Land Raiders they should keep their assualt vehicle rule as written in the 4th Ed Rule Book as their Codex rules ommitted them due to their inclusion in the main rule book.

In terms of DH Assualt Cannon I think the 5th Ed rule book actually list them as Heavy 3 - no rending.

in a similar vein the older books have some advantages due to their age the newer books don't so it seems wrong to give them all of the advantages of the new books with out re-dressing their weaknesses. Look at how broken old space wolves were with new marine rules!

Oh and no to Deff Rollas working vs Vehicles.

Do Bikes Turbo Boosting in the Scout Move get the 3+ Cover Save? I don't recall seeing or not seeing that.

I am inclined to go out on a (imo sensible) limb here and say that were possible the Black Templar, Dark Angel, Witch Hunter and Daemonhunter books should all use the rules found in the current Space Marine codex for:

Assault Cannons
Power of the Machine Spirit
Assault Ramps
Cyclone Missile Launchers
Storm Shields
Psychic Hoods
and they should also use the Rule Book rules for Force Weapons.

IMO this is simple and as it should be. Non of this discrepancy between codex's on common wargear.

there's some good and bad things there, i like the psychic hoods, POMS etc. but i have a problem with storm shields as that means Dangels termies can get 3+ invuns and Feel no pain, also Black templars assault marines can ALL have storm shields.

GW rule book FAQ says that Bikes may turbo boost when peforming a Scout Move.

Turbo Boost rule says that "in the following shooting phase, the bikes benefit from a 3+ cover save." (pg 76).

Fair question. I would say in this instance the doors do not count as the body/hull of the vehicle for the purposes of disembarking and the 1" rule.

right so for drop pods all doors must deploy and ALL messurments are to be taking from the hull and not the doors apart from shooting form the pod is taken from the gun though as it says in the main rull book?. on a side note this is just how gaz (and i did for the GT) plays it but would the deployed doors count as difficult terrian

Agreed, but how od you play the doors for movement etc? can models walk over?, If yes difficuly terrian? are enemy allowed within 1" of the doors if not assaulting ?.
At Heat 1 they played the doors are part of the vehical so noone can move over them and enemy must be more than 1" away.

Ok now i have sat down and read the wording of this rule properly (Daemon Codex pg 75 " Aura of Acquiescence) it is referring to a strength bonus derived from having grenades and been able to use those versus vehicles:

"Models with this Gift count as equipped with both assault grenades and defensive grenades (but receive no strength bonus in combat against vehicles)."

Therefore IMO you would still get both the Unholy Might and Furious Charge bonus's versus a vehicle in close combat.

Did they? The guy i played at Heat 1 played it to the hull and the doors are just for aesthetics (he put models on them). They were not difficult terrain, not counted as part of the vehicle, just pretty little things that folded down (in fact this is also how my OW opponent played them as well).

Personally this would be how I would always play them else you get situations where Pods doors could overlap in such a way as to make it impossible to assault the actual units (and that just seems plain silly to me).

Ok now i have sat down and read the wording of this rule properly (Daemon Codex pg 75 " Aura of Acquiescence) it is referring to a strength bonus derived from having grenades and been able to use those versus vehicles:

"Models with this Gift count as equipped with both assault grenades and defensive grenades (but receive no strength bonus in combat against vehicles)."

Therefore IMO you would still get both the Unholy Might and Furious Charge bonus's versus a vehicle in close combat.

HIVE TYRANT

HIVE COMMANDER: This ability stacks if more than one Hive Tyrant with this power is present as it does also with the Swarm Lords Alien Cunning ability.

TYRANT GUARD

SHIELDWALL: Hive Tyrants ONLY follow the rules for independent characters when when JOINING units of Tyrant Guard. i.e Finishing their move within 2" of such a unit means they automatically join it. Once joined the Hive Tyrant may not leave the unit, nor may it be 'picked-out' in anyway except by weapons, attacks, powers that SPECIFICALLY allow the opposing player to target a specified model.

MAWLOC

TERROR FROM THE DEEP: Mawloc's MAY opt to attempt to deepstrike directly beneath enemy units/models. Also replace the following: "If any unit still has surviving models under then template, move that unit by the minimum distance necessary to clear all models from beneath the template whilst maintaining squad coherency and avoiding impassable terrain." with:
"If any unit still has surviving models under then template, move that unit by the minimum distance necessary are no-longer within 1" of the template whilst maintaining squad coherency and avoiding impassable terrain."

BURROW: Mawlocs MAY deploy on the board and then elect to borrow during the first turn.

MYCETIC SPORES

If a Mycetic Spore is tank shocked it MUST attempt a death of glory attack. If this attack fails to halt or destroy the Tank the Mycetic Spore is destroyed and removed from play.

THE DOOM OF MALAN'TAI

SPIRIT LEECH: This power DOES affect units embarked in transports. Units embarked in Transports count as been fearless unit they leave said transport and/or the transport is destroyed. This is NOT a shooting attack and therefore cover saves may NOT be taken against wounds it inflicts.

VEHICLE HULLS
The hull of a vehicle is ANY part of the vehicle EXCLUDING protruding weapons. This means that if any part of the model, excluding protruding weapons, is 'hanging over' terrain (such as the sloped tracks at the back of a Landradier) it counts as been inside said terrain and must make the appropriate tests. Furthermore this means that you may NOT position a vehicle in such a way that part of its hull, as defined above, is 'hanging' over the board edge (such as Valkyrie or Vendetta tail booms).

ANYTHING ELSE FOR TYRANIDS OR ANY OTHER ARMY????
