I guess it depends if they can metal completely, or are just launching a new 'premium' range (but then I kind of thought that's what FW was for?) If there are still metals being cast then I think the SG range will be safe for now at least, but I can't see them going to the trouble of casting all of the SG metals in resin, probably resulting dropping the lines (once the backlog has ran down at least).

That said, I think the more popular games will probably still carry on in an unoffical capacity (NetEA, for better or worse, and BB seems ok with it's LRB and stuff) not sure about the others though

Well it looks like this is to fall in line with a general price increase across the whole GW range. One that has sizeable increases on their 'big sellers'.

In other news GW have now also made Maelstrom sign a new contract that forbids them from selling discounted products outside of the EU and a few other European nations. The significance is that Maelstrom are currently the worlds biggest online retailer of GW products, including GW themselves.

So in the space of 2 days we have:

- new resin line that dramatically reduces material costs for GW (resin compared to metal) but comes with a price rise on these replacement lines to further boost the profits derived from them.

- a range wide price rise on nearly all other products, with an larger increase on lines that sell well. Again to boost profits especially from the faster moving products.

- stopping Maelstrom selling their products worldwide. Obviously a move to regain their market leadership over worldwide online sales. This works 2 fold not only by increasing their online sales, but also when you remember that GW prices its products at a higher than norm exchange rate. I.E Sweden a £20.50 Drop Pod if priced on the exchange rate would cost 205SEK. GW though sell it for 250SEK (21% mark up).

Mmmmmm something tells me GW are feeling the pinch somewhat more than they would ever care to admit. Also all this combined makes me dismiss any hope of the new 'Fine Cast' range seeing an increase in the numbers of models per box/pack.

Mmmmmm something tells me GW are feeling the pinch somewhat more than they would ever care to admit. Also all this combined makes me dismiss any hope of the new 'Fine Cast' range seeing an increase in the numbers of models per box/pack.

And raising the price to a customer base that is also feeling the pinch. They seem to be operating under the illusion that they have an exclusive hold on the market. This is so similiar to the early 90's where my friends and I played other games than GW (such as tbh mainly battle tech) as this was what we could afford.
Raising prices will in this market just lead to ever decreasing sales, to use an americanism its economics 101 ffs.

Putting prices up in these Economic times is one hell of a risk. Most people are struggling as it is and I can see a lot of people simply jumping ship. I assume that they are just hoping that their brand loyalty is strong enough.

The whole Maelstrom/Wayland/Gifts for Geeks/eBay seller's etc should have been sorted out a long time ago. From a business point of view it was a massive mistake allowing other companies such a massive discount on their product that those companies could then go ahead and make substantial profits from selling GW products online cheaper than GW.

They first tackled all the eBay sellers (you will note it is very hard to pick up cheap GW on eBay any more and you will note that a number of the old regular seller's simply vanished). Now comes the change in the terms and conditions.

I don't think it will stop there. I suspect that a lot of the discount system is going to change to try and redress the balance. If GW was my company I would certainly take more steps
