Great battle, Siegemasters (Blood Pact) and Chaos (Nurgle) held the city of Horufen against 2 Space Marine forces (Shadow Scorpions and Dark Angels), an Imperial Guard force (Ragorie Gravborne) and the surprise assistance of the xenos Eldar (Ulthwe).

12000pts attacked, 9000pts defended.

Storming the first Kraken Bridge across the river Urkos was a doddle as no defenders laid claim to it. Though in their haste many Eldar and Space Marine skimmer units attempted to brave the underwater spring mines of the river, the Eldar suffering particularly heavy casualties.

A line of bunkers and trenches occupied by the Blood Pact Siegemasters ran in front of the second Slavek Bridge across the river Romus. These resolute infantry proved incredibly irritating to remove, requiring a lot of time and firepower delaying the advance.

Stood defiant at the Horufen end of the Slavek Bridge was a Warlord Titan and a Plaguelord (name?) Titan....this was going to be tough.

Pretty much everything was thrown at the closer Warlord Titan including a Warp Spider engagement supported by a Warlock Titan and many Space Marines. The Warlord refused to die for many turns, finally succumbing to a Volcano Cannon shot from a Ragorie 11th Armoured Shadowsword when it was far too late. Besides which the Plaguelord Titan simply stepped into the smoking wreckage to take the 'Gandalf stance' preventing an advance across the bridge.

Captain Jeridian of the Shadow Scorpions realising the bridge was a murderous bottleneck drawing in more and more attackers took the more direct (and suicidal) approach of flying into the city through the horrendous city AA defences.
Two Thunderhawks successfully landed and for a fleeting moment it looked like they would capture one of the city objectives (the Astartes Memorial Statue) but there where too many defenders and they ended the game Broken and retreated deeper into the city to conduct guerilla warfare, their Thunderhawks in flames.

The Death Guard Plague Marines finally retook the Slavek Bridge under the watchful eye of the Plaguelord Titan as the attacking force, badly mauled, was forced to withdraw.

Jeridian's bold plan to recapture Horufen in a surprise assault has failed and Horufen, still a chaos focal point, is able to resupply chaos forces on Mocheskan. Worse still Jeridian was last seen fighting in the city, presumed dead.

Having made a fighting withdrawal several miles out of the city, the Ragorie Gravborne have dug in with the support of Mocheskan Militia troops to repair and rearm.

The elusive Eldar have vanished as rapidly as they appeared, rumours abound that an Ordos Xenos Inquisitor has reached Mocheskan to attempt to locate the Eldar.

Here are some photos of the day I took, sorry they aren't the best! Here is also my take on the game :

Forces of order controlled by Chris, Si and Mark. Eldar, 2xSM, Ulani and Vanaheim IG.

Forces of disorder/chaos controlled by myself and Christian, death guard and siegemasters (a very fitting pairing!). Yes that is 2 warlord titans !! (one is a plaguelord, one a shooty warlord of death).

First turn is cagey, with the SMs breaking several Siegemaster formations however not really doing much damage. Thunderhawks and fighters strafe the trenches while the forces of disorder are forced to shuffle without knowing where the eldar or Ulani will move to. Finally the eldar make a quick sprint onto our right flank however the grav mines certainly took their toll...The main tank company rolls through the middle occupying the bridge.

Turn 2 begins with the eldar destroying a large part of the siegemasters right flank, however some elements manage to hold on hiding in the bunkers which were a major thorn in the eldar side later on! The tank company, tank destroyers, warhounds, fireprisms and shadowswords all try to bring down the the red warlords shields-doing the job in the end however the tank company come under sustained fire from 2 warlords and break eventually. Chris's SMs helped by the vanaheims overcome some of the left siegemasters, however at this point the death guard are still relatively untouched .

Artilery pounds back and forth doing significant damage to each side. Finally the vampire full of warp spiders touches down and manages to break the intermingled siegemaster + death guard formations holding the bridge however the death guard still occupy the vital point at the end of turn 2. Some of Si's SM manage to make an air assault beach-head in the city but they are quite cut off, hoping for help in the next turn. The warlock titan is the final unit to move and advances into position ready to strike next turn.

Turn 3 and the forces of order manage to win the vital roll off! Chris's White scars lands down on the bridge killing all the death guard there and opens the path for an epic enagagement, 2 warlords vs a warlock and warp spiders! The red warlord has only a few shields at this point and the plaguelord (the grey titan) doesn't really have the AT firepower to stop the warlock. As always it comes down to a few dice rolls and the vital TK powerfist attacks all miss, leaving the warp spiders unable to crack the tough armour. The assault is lost leaving the Red warlord to sustain with everything point blank into the Warlock causing 3 criticals and bringing it down in a show of hot dice.

Si's SM in the city manage to hold on desperatly, however finally do become broken and cruicially not rallying.

In the final turn 4, another load of SM race into the city to support the broken devestators and manage to clear out all the terminators there however again they come mass firepower and break to a fresh death guard formation. All is not lost though as falcons and bikes march across the river managing to contest one of the city objectives.

In moby dick style the red warlord is shot by everything and anything with Mark decreeing "SHOOT THE WARLORD!" at every possible moment. The Ulani shadowsword claims the honour and brings it down.

As dusk falls the objectives stand 2:1 to disorder who are probably in control of the board, however they havent managed to claim all 3 in the city with the 2nd bridge also being contested by death guard and more bikes/warhounds.

Overall it was a great game and a lot of fun . Thanks to everyone for helping me with the rules and such! Looking forward to the next game like this it really was epic!

Cheers to everyone who came. Glad to hear you all had a good time. I think the forces of disorder very definately won that one. Once the Warlock went down, there was no real chance of killing 2 Warlords (Stupid dice...grumble, grumble... Stupid white whale Warlord... ).

I had an excellent time and ended up thoroughly pissed - which is always a result as far as I'm concerned. Special thanks to Si, for coming up with the scenario, Chris for travelling all the way to Altrincham to get rivers for us and James who travelled all the way from Bangor to play toy soldiers with us.
