As the title reads I was sorting through my Epic stuff last week, and thought it might be fun to try and put the Space Marines I got at Britcon last year to use.

So, I have come up with two marine lists first up a codex list taking a leaf out of Curis' whitescars (in terms of the 1, 2 Thunderhawks at least)

Termis and Assault marines in the Thunderhawks I thought this gives me the flexibility to either double team the against a single large target (using the Terminators assault cannons first to thin out some numbers, then getting the MW from the librarian in support), or carry out two separate half decent assaults.

Dubious about the SC being your BTS, and being on the ground but it worked for Matt Otter back in the day.

The EUK revisions will make Marine list quite a bit more interesting IMO, particularly the DA.

From a meta point of view the list isn't great, we've all played against basically the same line up many times, it's good but most people are well rehearsed at countering it.

I think Curis is making it work through shear persistence and actually getting better at the game rather than it being an especially daunting list.

TBolt are great but relying on them for AA to protect your THawks doesn't work well as you can't CAP a CAP! In both my games vs Curis and Jeridan I've been able to have a really good go at shooting down loaded THawks.

Aye, I've noticed that about SM & Thunderbolts. It's very annoying as ground-based SM formations with Hunters are very expensive, inevitably making them the easy BTS.

I generally included Thunderbolts more because they are the cheapest formation (alongside Scouts) to bulk up activation count, and they can at a pinch be a mobile artillery to allow the SM player to shoot up hidden and distant targets.

Perhaps more Scouts or Speeder formations would work (though I only have 1 formation of each in models)?

Just remembered, in a SM vs SM fight they can chase enemy Thunderhawks.

The EUK Marine revisions will open many more options using AVs.... I don't know when your intending to use this list, if it's far enough in the future it's worth waiting. I just had a bit of a flurry of gluing marines to 2p's yesterday and then thought I should try and knock some lists together for them - purely for friendlies.

I still have to source a fair bit of the models though and do have a couple of questions...

Thunderhawks - I am not sure which ones to get are the current (4th ed) ones the small ones that Chris and Bob have? Was the 3rd ed one the slightly bigger one that I have seen around?

Warhounds - Looking to use ones which look visibly different from the 2nd Ed ones (I have these as Ferals) so, are the FW ones still for sale if you ring and ask nicely? Do the EA ones look that bad in the flesh??

On FW, I like the FW Thunderhawk. The bulky, welded design of SM vehicles means when they're reproduced in resin they have very few weak points. Mainly the landing struts (which you can model as retracted anyway).
